Force Ofcom to stop TalkTV broadcasting misinformation and hate

Rupert Murdoch’s TalkTV is poisoning public discourse with transphobic lies and fake climate news.

Last year TalkTV presenters repeated the dangerous myth that gender dysphoria is a mental illness and made the toxic claim that the Supreme Court has ruled trans women are men – even though the court said no such thing. Time and again, they’ve attacked and insulted trans people with damaging slurs – clearly breaching their duty under the broadcasting code to uphold accuracy and protect the public from harm and offence.

Just months later, Murdoch’s rightwing mouthpiece boosted deadly climate misinformation, claiming that “CO2 is not a threat to the planet” and dismissing talk about the climate crisis as a “deliberate effort to create fake anxiety”.

Instead of keeping hate and misinformation off our airwaves, Ofcom is allowing TalkTV to serve as a megaphone for dangerous, far-right rhetoric. We can’t let this stand, so we’re suing Ofcom.

Together we can force the regulator to do its job and hold TalkTV to account.

Your donations will help to cover the costs of our application for a judicial review at the High Court. Our barristers’ costs are estimated to exceed £50,000. And if we lose the case, we will likely have to pay Ofcom and TalkTV’s legal fees, which are likely to exceed £100,000. Read the Claim Form, Pre Action Letter and Jolyon Maugham Witness Statement.
