View our privacy policyThe European Parliament wants you to have the chance to retain your citizenship rights. But our Government isn’t listening. Sign this petition so we can tell Theresa May what we think.
I am a citizen of the UK. I am a pensioner living in Spain. I am a student studying in Belgium. I am in love with an Italian woman. The man I married is German. I travel easily through Europe for my work. And I am European.
This is my identity. No one voted for me to lose my right to work and move freely in Europe. To study in Europe and to live with other Europeans. These are my freedoms. They belong to me and it is for no one to take them from me.
Guy Verhofstadt will negotiate for the European Parliament. He has said he wants a “special arrangement” for people like me. People who value their European Citizenship. Where those who want these freedoms can keep them. And those who don’t need not. Freedom and choice.
It is “not something… we are looking at,” says the Government. But I, the undersigned, call on the Government not to block a “special arrangement”. And to negotiate a Brexit that preserve my rights and my freedoms and values my choices.
