Keep us safe from COVID-19: Review air pollution targets

2nd July 2020

To: George Eustice MP, Secretary of State for the Department for Environment and Rural Affairs

Dirty, polluted air damages the world around us and is a serious risk to our health. Now, evidence is mounting up that air pollution not only increases the chance of catching COVID-19, but means you are more likely to die if you do. A recent study at Cambridge University concluded that ‘that poor air quality increases the lethality of COVID-19’.

When the stakes are this high, and the early evidence suggests that there is a risk to our lives and the lives of our families, the Government must act to reduce that risk.

Will you sign the open letter to the Secretary of State for the Department for Environment and Rural Affairs and ask him to commit to an urgent review of the UK’s air pollution strategy?
