Livestreamed
Join Brent Central MP Dawn Butler and Good Law Project Executive Director Jolyon Maugham for a discussion of Butler’s new book ‘A Purposeful Life’.
As the first African-Caribbean woman to become a Government Minister in this country, the lessons in this book are the culmination of a lifetime of breaking records and speaking up for some of the most marginalised people in society.
Butler has changed countless lives through taking on corruption in institutions such as the Met Police and the NHS, as well as in the corridors of power themselves. In 2021, she was famously thrown out of the House of Commons for calling Boris Johnson a liar.
This livestream is an opportunity to hear Dawn talk candidly about what motivates her to keep going in the face of an increasingly hostile political landscape and to learn from and be inspired by her experiences and achievements.
