Stand in solidarity with Misan Harriman

Rightwing newspapers are trying to run a smear campaign against Misan Harriman. We can't let them. Add your name to the open letter, and stand against hate and division.

We, the undersigned, come together in solidarity with Misan Harriman, photographer, filmmaker, and advocate. We are deeply concerned about the dishonest smear campaign orchestrated by the Telegraph and the Mail.

Misan is an outspoken social activist and cultural commentator who uses his platform to fight for equality, diversity and inclusion. He is a mental health campaigner, an ambassador for Save the Children and a nominee for Amnesty UK’s People’s Human Rights Champion.

He is an equal-opportunity advocate for marginalised communities around the world who uses his platform to amplify the voices and humanity of people from different faiths, races, genders, and sexualities.

From his work with the Black Lives Matter movement to women’s and LGBTQIA+ rights, and solidarity campaigns for Sudan, Congo and Gaza, Misan is a human rights defender who believes that building community is the greatest fight against injustice.

The purpose of the smear campaign, which we repeat is entirely without foundation in fact, is to traduce and marginalise Misan. And it is intended to send a message to others that if they speak out, they will be subject to harassment and threats.

We believe that safeguarding freedom of expression is essential to a healthy democracy. And that trying to silence responsible critics of Israel by smearing them as antisemitic does not protect Britain’s Jewish community.

We stand against all forms of hate speech, violence and discrimination.

We stand for truth and justice.

We stand with Misan Harriman.
