Stop powerful men abusing their power

CW: sexual misconduct

It’s a familiar story. A woman comes forward to speak out about the harm a powerful man has caused. But she’s met with disbelief, indifference or disdain.

Time and time again, universities, businesses and governments have lined up to protect abusers and left survivors to deal with the consequences.

It takes courage to stand up to men in positions of power. It takes guts to take on organisations and institutions with cultural clout and big budgets.

We’ve been helping brave women to take them on. Women like Nina Cresswell, who spoke out against the man who assaulted her. Or like Lucy Siegle, who lifted the lid on how the Guardian covered up sexual misconduct by Nick Cohen.

If we can show that powerful men don’t always get away with it, then we can make it easier for women to come forward.

We can flip the fear.

But this work takes time, expertise and money. We need to come together and stop powerful institutions protecting abusers. We need to make sure that powerful men don’t get away with sexual abuse.

It’s time to put the blame back where it belongs – on the perpetrators.

Your donations will help cover the costs of preparing and presenting cases that support survivors to fight back against perpetrators and speak truth to power. We’ll also be taking on institutions that fail in their duties to protect women, and reporting stories that are kept out of mainstream media by powerful forces.

Ten per cent of the funds raised will be a contribution to the general running costs of Good Law Project. Any surplus will go to develop and support the work we do to resist hate and bring hope.
