Don’t cancel student nurses’ contracts

24th June 2020

Update: Following an extensive campaign, with hundreds of thousands of people calling on the Government not to cancel nursing students’ contracts, the Government has now agreed that these contracts should be honoured in full.

Thank you to all those who have added their name to the petition and helped make this possible.

To: Rt Hon Matt Hancock MP, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care

Student nurses stepped up to join the frontline of the NHS and help tackle coronavirus, months before they were due to graduate. The posts were advertised as 6-month paid placements, but student nurses have now been told their contracts will be terminated in July.

This issue will affect thousands of future nurses, so we intend to do whatever we can to help resolve this situation. These student nurses stepped up to the mark when this country desperately needed them, and it’s totally unacceptable to turn our backs on them now.

Will you sign the petition now and ask Health Secretary Matt Hancock not to cancel student nurses’ contracts?
