  • Voter ID: protect the voting rights of young people and marginalised communities

We’re planning to bring forward a legal challenge ahead of the next General Election to ensure that the new requirements for photo ID don’t disenfranchise people and deprive them of their democratic rights.

  • We’re challenging the silencing of protesters

We’re supporting action to defend the rights of protesters and the essential freedoms that hold up our fragile democracy.

  • Protect unaccompanied asylum seeking children

Good Law Project is bringing a set of legal challenges to seek the proper protection of unaccompanied children who are seeking asylum in the UK.

  • The River Wye is under threat

Flowing across the border between England and Wales, the River Wye is one of our most beautiful and precious waterways. But it is dying because of the impacts of agricultural pollution. Run-off and slurry from intensive farming in Powys and Herefordshire is spilling into the river, degrading the habitats of a range of internationally important species.

  • Clean Waters

A deluge of untreated sewage is being discharged by water companies into our rivers and along our coastlines. But the Government is failing to face up to the scale of the problem. This is why we have launched legal action alongside Marine Conservation Society, Richard Haward’s Oysters and surfer and activist, Hugo Tagholm, to demand action.

  • Tufton Street: Shine a light on dark money in politics

Who pulls the strings of the shady groups at 55 Tufton Street? We’ve started a legal campaign to uncover this insidious network of think-tanks and lobby groups that influence our politics – and to expose who’s behind them.

  • Help stop the great British public space sell-off

Treasured public spaces across the UK are being sold off and lost to private interests at an alarming rate. We’re supporting a community in Shropshire to save their local green space – and we’re now awaiting a judgment from the Supreme Court.

  • Private emails, public accountability?

Government Ministers have been using private email accounts to conduct official business. This was the case throughout the pandemic, when Boris Johnson and others were making important, costly decisions. So far our legal action to challenge the practice hasn’t succeeded, but we’re not giving up. We’re now seeking an appeal hearing in the Supreme Court.

  • We are just people too

England is an international outlier in trans healthcare – but not in a good way. In November 2022, we went to the High Court to challenge NHS England over the extreme waiting times faced by trans people trying to access specialised healthcare. In January 2023, we received news that our challenge had been rejected by the Judge – but we were also granted permission for an appeal, which was disappointingly dismissed in July 2023.

  • Appeal LGB Alliance’s charity status

To register as a charity, an organisation must be charitable: to benefit people and not harm them. Do the LGB Alliance, who seem to dedicate most of their output to denigrating trans people, meet that legal threshold? We’re supporting action to strip the organisation of its charitable status, and are awaiting the outcome.

  • Net Zero: The Government must take the climate crisis seriously

The Government had a woefully inadequate Net Zero strategy. We challenged it at the High Court and won. Now they have a deadline of spring this year to come up with a serious plan to tackle the climate crisis.

  • She said #MeToo. Now she’s being sued.

In 2010, Nina Cresswell was sexually assaulted. She reported the matter to the police, but no action was taken. And now the man she accused is suing her for libel. We’re supporting her in court.

  • Protect Net Zero from shoddy procurement practices

We can’t let the drive for Net Zero become another place for secretive closed-door procurement practices. We challenged an enormous contract awarded to a suspiciously small company. After our legal action, the contract was dropped.

  • Stop fossil fuel drilling in the Surrey Hills

Good Law Project supported legal action by a local community group to protect an important green space on the edge of Surrey Hills. They want to prevent an exploratory drilling project from taking place next to their village, which was greenlit by the Government. Our involvement in the legal challenge has now ended.

  • Rooting out racism in schools

Schools should be places in which every child feels safe and respected. But for too many children from Black and minoritised communities, that is simply not the case.

  • New Chair of Charity Commission

We issued a judicial review after the then Culture Secretary announced he would take his “war on woke” to the appointment of the new chair of the Charity Commission. When the new chair was appointed, we revealed information about his history that led to his withdrawal from the position.
